The People’s Television Network, Inc. (PTNI) was elected as the new member of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Administrative Council. The election was held during the 59th ABU General Assembly and Associated Meetings in New Delhi, India, last November 2022. PTV Network General Manager Julio O. Castillo, Jr. DBA, represented PTNI at the said Meeting, together with Head Executive Assistant Atty. Raymond C. Sanchez, Jr.

The Network, to be represented by GM Castillo, will be a part of the ABU Administrative Council for three years and will participate in bi-annual meetings of the Union to develop its policies, review the Union’s finances, and discuss the issues being faced by the Union.

As the government television network, PTNI’s election as a Counci member and its active involvement in the ABU is seen to further strengthen its active role in the information dissemination of the priority programs under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration. Meanwhile, the Council is expected to continue its promotion of the collective interests of television and radio broadcasters as well as key industry players and facilitate international media cooperation.

ABU is the biggest broadcasting union in the world with over 250 members in over 70 countries across four continents. It was established in 1964 as a non-profit, non-government, non-political, and professional association of broadcasters and broadcast media organizations.
