The People’s Television Network, Inc. (PTV) joined the Philippine Army and the Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loans Association, Inc. (AFPSLAI) in a Coastal Clean-Up Drive at Barangay Calibuyu, Tanza, Cavite lastMay 20 as part of the implementation of zero waste management and maintaining the cleanliness of coastal areas.
PTV General Manager Dr. Julio O. Castillo, Jr. joined other participants representing various agencies and offices comprised of Army Reservist, ROTC Cadets, civilian volunteers, teachers from National Trade School, representative from DENR – PENRO, LGU of Tanza, PNP, BJMP, BFP Tanza and Akbay Kalikasan Environmental Society Inc. – Akesi/PROJECT Luntian Cavite.
The proponents of the said activity, the Philippine Army and AFPSLAI, have been working towards environmental protection by organizing various activities in response to the country’s call to reduce waste and promote sustainable living with the coastal clean up project highlighting the importance of keeping the coastal areas clean, not just for the protection of marine life but also for the well-being of local communities. The activity also aims to raise awareness and promote action towards waste reduction and proper waste disposal.
The initiative is part of state-run TV network’s continuing “Go Green” advocacy campaign, which is anchored on President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s environmental protection program,
In addition, PTV has also extended its support to cause-oriented groups by helping in the information, education, and communication (IEC) campaign of stakeholders. Through this collaboration, they hope to encourage more communities to take part in preserving the environment.
